Goole Trip 11th September 2006

Despite a few minor setbacks, namely numbers being diminished due to Brothers unable toattendfor one reason or another and the non appearance of "Buffy", four Brothers made the short trip to Goole. Undeterred by the problems, Brothers Robert Gee KOM, Charlie Macefield KOM, Harry Barratt KOM, and William Jepson CP visited the Stanhope Regency Lodge #7079 and flew the flag for the Pride of Dinnington. As soon as we got there we were welcomed into the R.A.O.B. Club by the friendly bar staff and were also made to feel at home by all the Brothers in the Lodge.

Fraternal Greetings were passed on during what was an enjoyable afternoon Lodge Meeting. After which we had a few more pints then off to Wetherspoons for a fantastic Sunday lunch followed by a wander round the docks. Picture the scene-: Four Brothers{ out of towers as well } ale'd up watching two barges going out of a lock for half an hour, one of them hobbling about on crutches with their leg in a cast. Then back to the R.A.O.B. Club for some more beer, where we were entertained by a country and western singer. Thruoghout the evening we were made to feel very welcome by the bar staff and the locals in a very pleasant environment. Half way through the night it was Bingo Time. Brother Bob sent me to buy some bingo tickets and gave me £1 and asked me to buy 6 tickets. Fair enough! As I was nearing the front of the queue  I was reaching into my pocket for some change. Expecting the 6 tickets would cost maybe £1-20 or £1-80 would have been reasonable I would have thought. When the lady selling the tickets informed me the cost would be £3 for 6 { thats right 3 Pounds } I could only respond with " HOW MUCH" { with well maybe an expletive in there somewhere}.

Time soon caught up with us, and at 10-00pm it was time to wend our way home. Just in time as well. Brother Charlies left eye was starting to give in!! Regardless of our small numbers, it would be fair to say that we had an enjoyable day out.
